This blog covers about our travel experience to the beautiful and fascinating New York City(NYC) on May 28 & 29, 2016. Although this wouldn't be a MassGang's travel experience as this is just an experience of 2 members in the gang, I wanted to take this as an opportunity to share our (Karuna & Saranya) NYC travel experience.
Firstly, we opted for a bus travel to head to NYC as we didn't have a car. But that was indeed a fantastic option as we can save our energy for roaming across the NYC. We departed at 7.35 am from the PeterPan Bus stop, Framingham and reached close to 12.30 in the noon at NYC 42nd street Bus terminal.
Actually I should say this as more of an adventurous trip as this is the first time we are going without arranging via external packages. The adventure started as soon as we got down. We headed to the subway as we were told by our friends that the subway system is amazing system during our travel across the New York City. As said, it is !!! I mean it. Subway covers all parts of the city in hardly 20 minutes. But we were struck the first time as the subway map had lots of tracks & we were clueless where we were travelling to. With the help of few awesome people there, we reached U.S. Pacific hotel at Bowery, New York for refreshing.
We then started to the American museum of Natural History.
It wasn't that interesting here.
We then headed to the Top of the Rock which is one of the skyscraper. We had already been to a skyscraper at Malaysia, the KualaLumpur towers and Top of the Rock at the Rockfeller Center was our second one. Experiences were different though. KL towers had 110 floor. Top of the Rock was 70 floors high but pretty enough to admire the scenic beauty of the high raised buildings of the Grand New York City.
We were hungry by then and this is my most waited event. Yes, we headed to Saravana Bhavan, New York. Its been a while we both had food at Hotel Saravana Bhavan(HSB) and the wow HSB tea. At our stay at US, eating HSB food should be a awesome thing I should say. So we had mini tiffin and tea there.
Our next travel is to the Madame Tussaud's Museum(Wax Museum) which is the most satisfactory visit of the day. The photos below should speak more than words rather.
We left the Madame Tussaud's Museum around 11 pm and headed to the most fascinating Times Square street. The most happening street of the New York.
There was immediately a beasty treat to my eyes.
New York City is obviously a city of very high buildings and most happenings.
We got exhausted and decided to return back to the hotel. To our surprise, even at 12.30 am midnight, people were wandering around as if they are unaware of the time and I wonder this is why New York City is called as one of the the Most Happening Cities in the country. The subway trains availability at this untime added to our surprises and we reached our hotel by 12.45 am.
Day 2 (May 29, 2016):
The main event planned for the 2nd day is the visit to Statue of Liberty monument. This Statue of Liberty was built on an agreement that the American people were to build the pedestal and the French people were responsible for the Statue and its assembly in the United States. Our slot was at 8 am and the ferry to the Statue of Liberty island started at 8.30 am. We snapped quite a few pics during the ferry travel and followed by a boring Ellis island(nearby island) travel.
We had our breakfast at the cafe at Statue of Liberty and headed towards Ellis Island which is approx. 20 min travel on the ferry. There is nothing much to tell about the Ellis Island.
Next on our plan is the 9/11 Memorial. We arrived at a park which is close to 9/11 memorial and headed to the twin towers building. They have demolished the most affected tower among the twin towers and started rebuilding it. The other tower was already renovated and we were able to imagine how worse it would have been while the crash took place. Below is the memorial build with the names of demised people engraved on it.
We then spent sometime at the park as we didn't want to go to the 9/11 museum.
It was really an awesome two days at the NYC and we traveled to the 42nd bus terminal via subway and the bus started started exactly at 6 pm. We grabbed a burger and some fries to fill our tummy as we felt hungry and headed home. The bus reached the Peter Pan bus station, Framingham at the mentioned 11 pm and we reached our home at 11.45 pm.
